Estimated time to complete: 3 min

Communal is designed to help you increase volunteer engagement by allowing you to capture members' areas of volunteer interest when they purchase or renew their membership.

During the membership purchase process, individuals are presented with a custom list of volunteer interest areas created by your team. If they select any of these options, the system assigns a corresponding tag to their account, which can later be used for mass emails.

You can capture volunteer areas of interest even if you don't have access to the full Volunteering module.

Customizing the Volunteering Areas of Interest:

  1. Select the Users tab and then Tags on the left-hand side of the admin portal.
  2. Click + Create new user tag
  3. Enter the name of the volunteering area of interest. Example: Event Setup
  4. Select the Display this tag in the registration flow option to ensure the tag is visible during the membership purchase process. If this option is not selected, the tag remains private and can only be assigned by the administrative team
