What is Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and community impact. It takes place each year on the Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Instead of focusing on shopping or consumerism, Giving Tuesday inspires people around the world to give back—through donations, volunteering, acts of kindness, or supporting causes they care about.

Launched in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a worldwide tradition, with millions of individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and communities participating in over 80 countries. The day highlights the power of collective generosity—showing that every act of giving, no matter how small, contributes to positive change.

For organizations, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to:

• Raise awareness and funds for their mission.
• Engage supporters in meaningful ways.
• Build momentum heading into the year-end giving season.

How to Set-Up a Fundraiser

1. Navigate to your Communal Manager Dashboard and on the left-hand side under Donations select Fundraisers
2. Next, you will select Create New Fundraiser in the top right-hand corner
3. From there you will enter the Fundraiser Details including a Title, Summary, and in-depth Description of the fundraiser. If you would like to you can also set a Donation Goal which can motivate community members to donate.
   
   Description Template:

   Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity that brings communities together to support the causes that matter most. This year, we’re raising funds to support [your cause]. Every dollar you give helps us [specific impact statement]. Your contribution, no matter the size, creates real, lasting change right here in our community.

   ✨ Our Goal: [$$$]
   📅 Deadline: Midnight [date] Join us in making a difference.

4. Next, you will change the status to Active
5. Next, you can choose if you would like to select a Tag. Any donation tagged with the selected tag will be associated with this fundraiser and its amount will be included in the fundraiser's total.
6. Lastly, click Save
